Amber Heard and Johnny Depp have been a couple for several years, but their marriage ended in divorce last year. Since, the two stars have been involved in a divorce battle including several accusations from both parties. Now, Amber has accused her former husband of trying to delay the final divorce proceedings.
So, in some new papers filed in court by Amber’s lawyer, the actress claimed that Depp has been prolonging the divorce proceedings with the main purpose of punishing her. The claim was made after Johnny Depp’s legal team recently filed some documents to ask the Los Angeles Superior Court to order Amber to pay his lawyers’ fees and costs. Amber’s lawyer responded to the filing by saying that Depp is just trying to prolong “this proceeding as a means of punishing” his former wife.
Apparently, Amber has had it with this whole situation. “I want my life back,” the actress said in the documents that were reportedly obtained by ET Online. “I want to be divorced from Johnny now,” the documents added. And Amber asked the court to grant “the prompt dissolution of marriage.”
The documents went on to say that Johnny Depp is just trying to perpetuate his feud with Amber and is not really interested in reaching a final agreement. “Indeed, if [Depp] were truly interested in settlement (rather than in perpetuating his feud with [Heard] and forcing her to pay attorneys’ fees), he would have devoted his efforts to completing the required two forms of settlement, which still lack complete signatures from his attorneys, and would have cooperated in other actions required by the DPM [Deal Point Memorandum], rather than wasting the resources of the Court with this bad faith request,” the documents said.
Johnny Depp previously accused Amber of trying to obtain more money in the divorce settlement. The actor filed some court documents saying that Amber wanted renewed media attention with her request to obtain more money. Of course, the case remains ongoing and it is yet to find out how this divorce battle will finally end.
