If only one day after his wedding to Hilaria Thomas, Alec Baldwin was taking a break from Twitter and giving media the evil eye, Monday brought out a whole new man. Perhaps it is a sign for a new beginning, as Alec Baldwin gave the NY Philharmonic $1 million.
Whereas by Sunday morning tying the knot did nothing for Alec Baldwin’s media behavior, Monday seemed to have shaped up a brand new man. Just two days after his wedding, Baldwin gave the NY Philharmonic $1 million. But while he’s scoring popularity points on one side, on the other he’s looking more dangerous than ever before.
According to the New York Philharmonic, the actor gave them a $1 million gift. It’s not exactly a secret that Baldwin is a board member and even has his own radio show called “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. The gift was actually Baldwin’s way of honoring Zarin Mehta, the president and executive director of the Philharmonic who is preparing his departure.
“I have loved classical music all of my life, but Zarin Mehta made my dream of becoming part of the world of classical music come true” reads the actor’s statement. “Zarin has my best wishes for the future, and I look forward to continuing our rich, musical friendship” says the “30 Rock” actor.
Zarin Mehta said of Baldwin’s $1 million gift: “(it) humbles me and inspires me to continue to contribute to the art form in any way I can”.
If only we could see this side of Alec Baldwin more often. His recent brawls with the media gave Baldwin the notoriety of a photographer puncher and of a man with quite a bad temper. In fact, as he divulged in a Vanity Fair story, TMZ’s producer Harvey Levin had quite a dramatic end in the actor’s fantasies.
“I wanted to stick a knife in him and gut him and kill him, and I wanted him to die breathing his last breath looking into my eyes” said Alec Baldwin in a confession for Vanity Fair. Harvey Levin was the one that cost the actor the custody of his daughter, Ireland, five years ago.
Fortunately for Harvey Levin, it looks like Hilaria’s influence is rubbing off on Alec Baldwin too, because the 54-year-old man said: “You have to let that go. Enough time – I mean, it does heal wounds”.
