In the past few years, Alcatel has managed to launch several smartphones, but the OneTouch Idol 3 is probably the best device until now. This new smartphone produces mid-tier level of photography, internal hardware performance and screen resolution at a cheaper price, compared with other handsets at the same range.
The Idol 3 also comes with Android 5.0 and it features two JBL speakers. However, it suffers from a slight navigational delay and some confusing layout and design decisions, but in the end it is a really good phone.
Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 comes at the price of 250 dollars, a very good price if we are looking on what this phone has to offer. The Idol 3 manages to beat Moto G 4G LTE, Motorola Moto G and even Moto E 4G LTE on specs, camera quality and price. Even if Moto set is intended to be entry-level, probably customers will be tempted to buy the new Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3, due to its specs and price.
This phone comes with a 5.5-inch LCD screen and 1,920x,1080p HD resolution, which is absolutely a great thing for a budget phone. The display is very nice and bright, while the phone’s design offers an air of elegance, featuring a dark grey brushed finish, rounded corners and silvery accents throughout.
The JBL speakers are located on the top and bottom edges of the screen, making a huge impact on the phone’s audio quality. The music quality is very smooth, well balanced and loud. Of course, the speakers are not built for entertaining a raucous party, but they are very good as portable speakers.
The buttons on the Idol 3 are not so good, the volume rocker can be hard to find by feel on the right edge. On the back of the phone, there is located a 13-megapixel camera, with an LED flash positioned just below. On the front, there will be found 8-megapixel lens.
An interesting thing about this phone is that it features a reversible interface, meaning that the screen orients right-side-up even when the phone is turned upside-down. The microphone and dominant speakers also adjust to whichever side is “up.” The Idol 3 is powered by 1.5GHZ octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615, 16GB storage, which can go up to 128GB via microSD and 3GB of RAM.
