Acer has released its new line of Chromebooks. The most appealing thing about this laptop is its 199 dollars price. To be mentioned that Acer’s new Chromebook also comes with a large 15.6-inch screen.
Unfortunately, the laptop is a little bulky and there are some debates on whether these Chromebooks can be a replacement for desktop devices. These days, most Chromebooks come with smaller screens, meaning that the laptop’s large screen can be an attraction for customers.
After a short hands on test, the Acer Chromebooks seems to offer a good video streaming, without straining the eyes, compared with the 11.6-inch Chromebook.
The new Acer Chromebook CB3-531 represents the latest addition to the line of Chrome OS laptops. The company has already started to sell 15.6-inch models at the price of 249 dollars. However, it also comes in some cheaper models, with leas features, at the price of 199 dollars.
The new Chromebook is more like a desktop replacement, because it is heavy to carry around. The company declared that the laptop weighs approximately two kilograms. However, the system runs smooth, while the Chrome browser, Web services and apps load quickly. It seems that the Intel Celeron N2830 dual-core processor that is found on the laptop provides adequate performance.
However, Chromebooks are designed for those who do most of their computing on the Web, and most of their applications require an Internet connection, so don’t expect do to some heavy video and image editing. The most important performance that Chromebooks can deliver is the wireless network performance. The laptop’s 802.11ac wireless connection seems very good and stable.
Acer declared that the laptop’s battery will last up to 11.5 hours, but only when the screen is on low brightness. The battery monitor showed approximately nine hours of laptop run-time remaining. However, 10 hours of battery life sounds great. As for the keyboard, Acer probably could have done a better job, but they can be used for long hour typing.
The laptop comes with 16GB of storage, powered by 2 GB of Ram, a microSD slot, a full-size HDMI port, USB 3 and USB 2.0. The new laptop will start shipping in the U.S in July and starting with June, it will be available in the Europe, Africa and Middle East, as well.
