Schlage Sense Bluetooth Deadbolt was first introduced to the public in January, at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Showcase in Vegas. This device was one of a number of products at the show that gained a lot of interest from the public.
Well, Schlage Sense Bluetooth Deadbolt is finally ready to be launched on the market on November 1st. This new device is probably the only one on the market that is compatible with HomeKit and it looks pretty good, too. As it is an Apple HomeKit, users will be able to control this device by using Siri commands, meaning that Schlage Sense Bluetooth Deadbolt is the only device on the market that can lock and unlock the door using voice commands.
The new Schlage Sense Bluetooth Deadbolt is available at the price of 229 dollars, which will make it a direct competitor with other Bluetooth locks, like Kwlkset Kevo and August. Moreover, the new kit will cost approximately 50 dollars more than other previous models, including Schlage locks that communicate using Z-Wave. To be added that those locks aren’t beholden by HomeKit and work with a number of smart hubs from systems like Wink, SmartThings and Staples Connect. Those locks will allow users to lock and unlock them from beyond their home’s Wi-Fi network.
The new Schlage Sense will only allow users to lock or unlock it beyond their home, if they have an Apple TV. This device is considered to be the facto HomeKit hub. Moreover, this lock will be a huge attraction, especially for Cupertino loyalists and for those who are already owning an Apple TV in their living room. So, what does it do? Well, users will be able to lock and unlock their door using a smartphone app. A pretty simple and convenient operation. To be mentioned that Schlage Sense app will only work on iOS devices.
Another interesting fact is that this smart lock also features a numeric keypad and will allow users to assign user-specific codes for different people. This means that they can set parameters for when each cod will work, a very useful way to let the gardener or maybe the dog-sitter in.
